Small group training

Find your player's group by birth year.

Every group is capped at 8 players, so popular times fill up.

Born on the edge of two groups, or not sure of the level? Pick either. Every group is by birth year first, then level, and a coach confirms the right one at the first session. Nothing is locked in until they have trained once.

Programs

Everything 1UP offers, in one place.

New to soccer? Start here. Already with a club? We sharpen what you do there.

Small Group Training

Every player gets coached, not just managed.

Groups max out at 8 players. That means your player gets meaningful reps, real feedback, and a coach who actually knows their name, not lost in a crowd of 20.

For parents

What parents ask us most.

Straight answers about schedules, groups, rescheduling and price.

Does 1UP replace club soccer?
No. Most of our players play club too. 1UP adds technical work in groups of 8, on the days that suit your family, all year round.
Can we try a session first?
Yes. Your first small group training session is free, with no commitment. Camps, 1on1 training and Mini 1uppers are paid from the first day.
Which group will my child be in?
Groups go by birth year, then level, with no more than 8 players. A coach confirms the level at the first session and moves your player if a different group fits better.
What if we can't make a session?
Reschedule it from your family account with at least 48 hours notice and you aren't charged. Inside 48 hours, the session is charged.
Where do sessions run?
This indoor term: Monday to Wednesday evenings in the Southwest, Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons in the Northwest, and Sunday afternoons in the Southeast. Outdoors from spring. You see the exact field before you book. Families also come from Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane and Chestermere.
How much does it cost?
Small group training is $39.99 a session, and the first one is free. Grassroots (born 2019 to 2022) is $29.99 a session this indoor term. Camps, 1on1 training and Mini 1uppers show their price on their own pages.
My child is new to soccer. Is that okay?
Yes. Mini 1uppers (born 2022 to 2025) and Grassroots (born 2019 to 2022) are built for first touches. Older beginners join a group matched to their level.
What should my child bring?
Soccer cleats or runners, shin pads, a water bottle, and a ball if they have one. We take care of the rest.

Still have a question? Email our team, a real person will get back to you.

About 1UP

Youth soccer training in Calgary since 2018.

1UP Soccer is a Calgary youth soccer academy built on one idea: every player deserves real coaching, in a small group, from people who have played the game at a high level. Since 2018 we have trained more than 10,000 players across Calgary and Alberta, from toddlers in Mini 1uppers to players heading to university soccer.

Small group training, all year round

Our weekly small group training sits alongside club soccer: focused technical work in groups of no more than 8, grouped by birth year and level. Sessions move indoors for the Calgary winter and outdoors from spring, in the Southwest, Northwest and Southeast.

A program for every birth year

Mini 1uppers for players born 2022 to 2025, Grassroots for players born 2019 to 2022, then small group training for players born 2005 to 2018. We also run two-day skills camps, no-school day camps, summer camps, an Okanagan skills camp, and 1on1 and 2on1 private training.

Coached by professionals

Our staff includes current Canadian Premier League players and coaches with national team experience. That standard, with a family-friendly culture, is why Calgary parents have left 306 five-star Google reviews, and why more than ten of our alumni play professionally or for national teams.
